Velvet Underground – 4 Original Band Photographs by Andy Warhol Factory Photographer Billy Name
Four original vintage photographs of the Velvet Underground, circa 1969, taken by Andy Warhol’s Factory photographer Billy Name. These portraits of Lou Reed, Moe Tucker, Sterling Morrison and Doug Yule came from the original MGM/Verve Records Velvet Underground art file. Recordmecca’s Jeff Gold purchased the Velvets art file in the mid 1970′s from a former MGM employee, who had rescued it from a trash bin. Over the years he had sold some of the file’s contents, but recently reacquired these classic prints.
Each print measures 8″ x 10″ and is in near mint condition, with a very faint impression along the top edge from a paperclip. The Mo Tucker photograph has Billy Name’s Factory Foto stamp on the reverse, the others do not (the Mo photo is printed on thinner stock than the others.) With Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee, noting these are original 1960′s vintage prints by Billy Name, and came from the original MGM/Verve Art Files.
