A very rare stereo UK first pressing of “The Velvet Underground and Nico” with the alternate LP cover. Probably because of cost, the first Velvet Underground LP was released in Great Britain with a single fold cover, laminated on the front, with flipbacks on the reverse. The peelable banana was eliminated, and the airbrushed US back cover became the UK first cover. Here’s a beautiful Near Mint-/Near Mint copy of the earliest UK issue. The disc shows very little play, with some spindle marks on the labels, but an extremely clean and shiny playing surface–and the pressing sounds great. The cover too is very clean, with the high gloss laminate front cover adding to the appeal. A rare and essential LP.
