Velvet Underground – Andy Warhol – Aspen Magazine Fab Issue

A beautiful copy of the 'Fab' issue of Aspen Magazine, designed by Andy Warhol and David Dalton. Issued in 1966, this 'magazine' is actually a group of items in a Warhol-designed box. Included is a 7' flexi-disc of the Velvet Underground performing the otherwise unreleased 'Loop;' A folio titled 'Rock and Roll—Three Views' with three 3-page essays on the music scene by Lou Reed, Bob Dylan biographer Robert Shelton, and Bob Chamberlain (illustrated with reprints of Beatles/Velvets/Dylan/James Brown handbills); 'The first and only edition of the ‘Exploding Plastic Inevitable': A composite of the ‘Underground' newspapers flourishing across the country' (with 'Chelsea Girls' content;) an 'Underground Movie Flip Book' of Warhol's 'Kiss;' a 'Ten Trip Ticket Book' (a recap of the Berkeley Conference on LSD in the form of a ticket book;) a folio of 12 Pop-Art paintings from the John G. Powers collection (including Warhol, Lichtenstein, etc;) the 'Homeward Bound' calendar by Chamberlain; an Aspen subscription form, a Guild Guitar advertisement, and a poster touting an ad agency. This is highly sought after by Warhol and Velvet Underground collectors, and is rarely found with all the elements present, as here. with the contents in mint condition, and the fragile box in near mint condition. A small bit of rubbing at the bottom of the box, but overall extremely clean.
