A scarce first edition hardbound copy of Andy Warhol’s Index (Book,) with the hologram cover and including a still-attached Velvet Underground record.  Warhol’s 1967 Index (Book) was an adventurous and accessible expression of his art, combining text and photographs with multimedia and interactive elements.  Included are numerous photographs of the Velvet Underground, while Nico is listed as one of the contributors.

This example is in overall excellent condition; in addition to the the fully attached and unplayed Velvet Underground record (an unreleased track titled “Noise”,) the other elements are all intact and functioning, including the pop-up castle,  accordion (it still squeaks loudly,) the pop up paper airplane, Chelsea Girls disc on spring, pop up cube (the original rubber band has stretched out and needs to be replaced to pop closed,) fold open nose, pop up Hunts Tomato Paste can, 8 tear out strips, and balloon (as always fused between two pages.)  There is some very minor foxing and light scuffing to the edges, but overall this is one of the nicest examples we’ve seen.  8 3/4″ x 11 1/4″.  A wonderful Velvet Underground/Warhol artifact.
