Velvet Underground /Andy Warhol / Mothers of Invention – 1966 First Printing Fillmore Concert Poster (BG-8) In Beautiful Condition

A beautiful first printing concert poster advertising two May 1966 shows at San Francisco’s Fillmore Auditorium, featuring Andy Warhol’s Exploding Plastic Inevitable, with the Velvet Underground & Nico, and Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention. This poster, designated as BG-8 in the Bill Graham poster series, has been signed by its designer, Wes Wilson (1937-2020), inventor of the psychedelic concert poster.
This first printing has the ‘union bug’ with the number 72 in the lower left corner.  Wilson has signed in blue pen just below ‘Geary’ at the bottom.  The poster has some light, even toning, and displays as Near Mint after minor professional restoration– a horizontal crease across the middle has been flattened and lightly touched up, and is now virtually unnoticeable from the front, even when looking for it, pinholes in the four corners have been closed, and a few very small clear tape stains have been removed, none of which is now visible.  A beautiful example of this highly sought after poster.  13 7/8” x 20 1/8”.
[At the time of this listing,  a similar example is being offered on Ebay for $10,500.]
