Velvet Underground – Sterling Morrison-Owned 1968 Shrine LA ‘Last Minute’ Concert Handbill/Mint Condition
A scarce handbill for the Velvet Underground, Butterfield Blues Band, Sly & The Family Stone and the Rockets (pre-Crazy Horse) at LA’s Shrine Auditorium July 12-13, 1968, from the legendary archive of the late Velvets’ guitarist Sterling Morrison.
The design of the original color psychedelic poster made to promote this Pinnacle-produced show rendered the band names virtually impossible-to-read (see second scan, for reference only.) As a result, the promoters had to make this rare and extremely legible black and white “last minute” handbill, noting the show was “This Fri. and Sat.”
With a copy of a letter of authenticity from Sterling Morrison’s widow, Martha Morrison, noting it was part of Sterling Morrison’s collection, and Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity.
In mint condition. 5 1/4″ x 8 1/2″.
A scarce handbill for what must have been an amazing show, with exceptional provenance.
