Velvet Underground & Nico – 1967 Handbill for 1st Boston Tea Party Shows
A scarce handbill advertising two shows by “Andy Warhol’s Velvet Underground” at the Boston Tea Party, during May, 1967. These were the band’s first performances at a venue that would become a home base of sorts for the Velvets. Reportedly Nico was supposed to perform with the group, but didn’t show up until the end of the second show; the band refused to allow her on stage, and she was fired soon afterward.
8 1/2″ x 11,” in excellent condition, with a barely noticeable flattened horizontal crease through the middle, minor handling, and a very faint brown stain to the left of the tattoo on the left hand figure. Artwork by “Dolphin Design”.
