Velvet Underground – Sterling Morrison-Owned Shrine Auditorium Poster, With His Handwritten Archive Notes
A first printing of John Van Hamersveld’s poster advertising concerts by the Velvet Underground, Chambers Brothers and Dr. John The Night Tripper, at L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium in May, 1968. These shows were part of the Pinnacle Dance Concert Series. This poster was part of Velvets’ guitarist Sterling Morrison’s legendary archive of Velvet Underground memorabilia.
The poster is printed on card stock and is in near mint condition. Also included is an index card with Sterling Morrison’s handwritten archival notes about this poster , detailing the concert dates, poster size, other acts on the bill, and insurance value, written sometime in the late 80s or early 90s.
This was acquired directly from Morrison’s widow Martha. Her letter of authenticity is included as is Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity. A classic Velvets poster with impeccable provenance. Poster: 14 1/2″ x 11″. Card: 5″ x 3″.
