Velvet Underground – Sterling Morrison Owned VU Poster
A very rare poster printed on silver foil advertising concerts by the Velvet Underground and Quicksilver Messenger Service at the Hippodrome in San Diego, Ca. on July 5-6, 1968. This poster comes from the collection of the late, great Velvet Underground guitarist Sterling Morrison; we obtained it from Sterling’s widow, Martha, who has written a letter of authenticity stating that it belonged to her late husband and hung in the Morrison home. With great psychedelic artwork by Rebecca Galdeano, it measures 17 ½’ x 22 ½’. In VG++ condition, with pinholes and minor creases in the corners, a ¼ edge tear, but no other issues of any significance. On the back is a Sterling Morrison Archive stamp with the pencil notation “1968 7-A” in Sterling’s hand. We know of only 2 other examples of this very rare poster. A rare opportunity to obtain a Velvets poster that belonged to a band member.
