Velvet Underground – Sterling Morrison Owned VU Poster
A very rare poster advertising the Velvet Underground, Clover and Maya at the Hippodrome in San Diego, Ca. on June 14-15, 1968. This poster comes from the collection of the late, great Velvet Underground guitarist Sterling Morrison. The poster, with psychedelic artwork by Rebecca Galdeano, is reproduced as plate 3.98 in the definitive reference book "The Art of Rock," as well as many books on the band. It measures 22" x 17", and is in VG+ condition, with some creasing, but no other issues of any significance. On the back is a Sterling Morrison Archive stamp with the pencil notation "1968 6-G" in Sterling's hand. We obtained this from Sterling's widow, Martha Morrison, who has written a letter of authenticity stating that this poster belonged to her late husband, and that it hung in the Morrison home. We know of only 2 other examples of this very rare poster. A rare opportunity to obtain a Velvets poster that belonged to a band member. SOLD
