Velvet Underground – Sterling Morrison Signed & Owned Love ‘Da Capo’ LP

A 1966 first pressing of the Love’s second album Da Capo, from the personal record collection of Sterling Morrison of the Velvet Underground.

This album, from the collection of the late Velvets guitarist, is an extraordinary artifact from the nexus of two important and unconventional guitar led 1960s bands, and is signed on the front cover with Morrison’s initials, HSM, for Holmes Sterling Morrison.

We obtained this and a few other of Morrison’s records from his widow Martha Morrison; her letter of authenticity is included, as is Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee,  noting its extraordinary provenance.

The cover, with torn original shrink wrap, grades VG+, while the disc grades EX/EX-, with a scratch at the very end of the second side that plays through, but causes audible ticks.  With an Elektra Records 1966 catalog, also belonging to Morrison.

With a copy of the limited edition chapbook Why I Collect Beat-Up Old Records Owned by Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, and members of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Velvet Underground and Grateful Dead, by Recordmecca’s Jeff Gold; published by Jack White’s Third Man Books. In it, Gold discusses the mojo of collecting artist-owned records, including others from Sterling Morrison’s collection.
