An super scarce UK 1st pressing of the Velvet Underground's self titled 3rd album, which mistakenly features the otherwise unreleased "Val Valentine" mix (available in no other country,) an alternate take of "Some Kinda Love" and the "horizontal split" back cover, which was supposed to be printed as a "vertical split." According to Oliver Landemaine's ultimate Velvet Underground discography ( http://olivier.landemaine.free.fr/vu/discog/lps/uk/lpsuk.html ) an estimated 250 to 300 copies of this were mistakenly pressed with the "discarded" Valentine mix and the 1-G stamper numbers, as on this copy. The discography goes on to say "The UK first press was unique, containing a different mix to that which was issued in other countries. It offers indeed Val Valentine's mix, with alternate take of Some Kinda Love. Valentin's discarded mix was mistakenly pressed into action, presumably as the result of MGM in the USA supplying the wrong masters." The cover here is in VG++/EX- condition, and the disc is VG++, and plays great. This is only the second copy of this extremely rare record we've had in nearly 40 years of looking. Rare indeed ! SOLD
