Woodstock – 1969 1st Printing Large Poster, Signed by Designer Arnold Skolnick / Framed & In Mint Condition (Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Grateful Dead, CSN, Etc.)

A beautiful original large-size concert poster advertising the Woodstock Festival of Music and Art/An Aquarian Exposition (popularly known as “Woodstock”,) held August 15, 16 and 17, 1969 in White Lake, New York.

This mint condition poster has been signed in the lower right corner by its designer, Arnold Skolnick, and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, also hand signed by Skolnick, reading ‘This is the original Woodstock Festival poster printed in Aug. 1969 by Rapaport Press for Woodstock Ventures Ink. from original artwork by Arnold Skolnick.’

Woodstock is generally regarded as the greatest rock festival ever and it’s easy to see why; the lineup included Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Sly & The Family Stone, The Band, Crosby Stills & Nash, the Jefferson Airplane, Joe Cocker and many others.

Skolnick’s classic poster for the Woodstock Festival has been reprinted and bootlegged numerous times, but this is an absolutely original first printing with impeccable provenance. Original Woodstock posters were printed in two sizes; this is the larger 24″ x 36″ version.  This has the three printing irregularities that appear only on the original large size posters, as noted below.

In Mint condition, attractively framed to a total size of 31 1/2″ x 43 1/4″.

A lesser copy of this same poster sold in 2019 for $10,625 (see last photo.)

With Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity.

ALL authentic large size Woodstock posters have the following printing irregularities:

1. On the inside edge of the right hand stem of the “M” in “MUSIC”, where the stem makes a 45 degree angle back to the left, there is a tiny dotjust inside the white ink. It is no bigger than a tiny pin hole, and is very close to the peak in the red ink.
2. There is a white speck to the left of the finger closest to the left edge. This speck is 1″ up from the bottom of the blue band, and is less than 1/8″ from the left edge of the poster that is 23 3/4″ wide, and 1/4″-3/8″ from the left edge of the poster that is 24″ wide.
3. There is a tiny white dot in the top stem of the “3”. It is roughly in the middle of the orange ink, and is 3/8″ from the left edge of the “3”. This one is difficult to find. You’ll need really good light, and may even need some magnification.)
