Woodstock – 1969 Bus Advertising Sign
An extremely rare sign advertising the 1969 Woodstock Festival "liberated" from the side of a New York City bus. Very very few of these large (44" x 20.75") cardboard signs have ever surfaced, and though this has suffered the ravages of the elements, it is truly a rare and evocative period piece. As you can see from the photo, there is a water stain in the lower left corner, a few small pieces missing in the corners, some tack holes, a 6" tear top center (repaired from the back), and numerous scuffs. But despite all this, it looks great in it's weathered glory. Perhaps 5 of these have ever been discovered in the nearly 40 years since this most legendary festival, in various states of disrepair. Framed, this weather beaten beauty could be the alterpiece of any 60's poster collection. (Sideways scan is much larger than horizontal one.)
