Woodstock Festival – Original Backstage Pass and Business Card

A rare backstage pass and business card for the 1969 Woodstock Festival (short for the Woodstock Music & Art Fair – An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace and Music.)  The story of the Woodstock Festival and the artists who performed is familiar to any fan of 60’s rock– the rain, the mud, the crowd of 500,000 watching Jimi Hendrix, The Who, the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Sly & The Family Stone, Jefferson Airplane, The Band, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and so many more.  This original backstage pass was used at the festival by Bert Yellen, who worked for Albert Grossman, manager of The Band, Joplin, the Butterfield Band and famed Woodstock resident but festival no – show Bob Dylan.    The pass shows signs of exposure to the elements, but is in overall very good condition, encased in it’s original removable plastic pinback holder (without the pin.)  Also included is an original business card for the Woodstock offices in New York City, with train schedule notations handwritten on the back.  We obtained these directly from Bert Yellen, who kept them after the festival as a reminder of a truly unforgettable weekend.  The only examples we’ve ever seen.  Pass: 3 1/2″ x 2 1/4″; business card: 3 1/2″ x 2″.
