Cat Stevens – Large 1974 Australian Tour Concert Poster + ‘Buddah’ Promo Sticker and Button
From the collection of the late Bruce Jackson, sound engineer on Cat Stevens’ 1974 Australian Tour, an oversize concert poster advertising the tour’s four stops, along with a promotional button and sticker advertising Stevens’ 1974 album Buddha and the Chocolate Box.
We can find no other example of this rare silkscreen poster online; it measures 29 3/4″ x 40″ and is in very good plus condition, with flattened horizontal and vertical creases from when it was previously folded in quarters, before being rolled. There is some edge creasing and an archivally repaired 2″ edge tear, not affecting the art. Also included is an unused 6 3/4″ x 5″ promotional Buddha and the Chocolate Box sticker (the backing is present, but has fallen off from age) and a 2 3/4″ button promoting the album.
Bruce Jackson (1949- 2011) was an acclaimed Australian audio engineer responsible for concert sound for Elvis Presley from 1971 until his death in 1977, Bruce Springsteen (1978-1988), and Barbara Streisand (1993- 2007).
During his long career in concert sound, Jackson worked with many other major artists including Johnny Cash, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Rod Stewart and the Faces, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, Al Green, and the Jackson Five and Michael Jackson.
