An original, large format photographic print of Eric Clapton at the dinner table with his grandmother, Rose Clapp, who raised him.

This photograph was shot in 1971 by renowned Life Magazine photographer John Olson at Rose’s home in Surrey, England, and originally published in Life’s September 24, 1971, article The Rock Family Affair.

This print was made from the original negative sometime in the 1990s, and is from the estate of Clapton’s longtime publicist.  The reverse features “Kodak Professional” watermarks and is annotated in red pencil with ‘Photo by John Olson/LIFE, Not for Reproduction.’

A beautiful and poignant portrait of Clapton during a pivotal era in his life and career.
