Janis Joplin / Big Brother and the Holding Company – 1966 Concert Contract, Signed By Peter Albin
A contract for Big Brother and the Holding Company’s November 11, 1966 show at the Trip Room in Sacramento, Ca., signed on behalf of the band by bassist and ‘leader’ Peter Albin, and promoter William Hall.
This dates from the very early days of Big Brother; the band played their first show in January 1966, and at the time of this performance, Janis Joplin had only been in group for four months. Peter Albin formed Big Brother with guitarist Sam Andrew, and was considered the group’s ‘leader’, negotiating and signing early contracts on their behal. On the day they played this show, the band was also filmed in San Francisco for the television show ‘Pow’.
