A rare–and stunning–1977 cardboard boxing-style concert poster advertising shows by blues giant Muddy Waters at the Roxy in Hollywood, California.

The poster measures 14″ x 22″ and is in excellent condition, with small staple holes in the four corners, and a small crease to the top right corner. Printed by Colby Posters in Los Angeles, this is the only example we’ve seen of this rarity.  Muddy was touring to support his recently released album Hard Again, which All Music called “a startling comeback and a gritty demonstration of the master’s powers. Fronting a band that includes such luminaries as [producer Johnny Winter,] James Cotton and “Pine Top” Perkins, Waters is not only at the top of his game, but is having the time of his life while he’s at it.”
