Sterling Morrison – ‘Best of Booker T. & the MG’s’ Morrison & Owned Signed LP

A 1968 first pressing of The Best of Booker T & The MG’s, from the personal record collection of Sterling Morrison of the Velvet Underground.  Morrison has initialed the front HSM, for Holmes Sterling Morrison, on the front cover to the right of Booker T’s head.

The Velvet Underground notably wrote and performed a song titled ‘Booker T’, a live performance of which appears on the Peel Slowly & See box set.

We obtained this and a few other of Morrison’s records from his widow Martha Morrison; a copy of her letter of authenticity is included, as is Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee,  noting its extraordinary provenance.

Both disc and cover are in VG condition, with a 1″ split to the top spine and a 3 1/2″ split to the bottom spine.

With a copy of the limited edition chapbook Why I Collect Beat-Up Old Records Owned by Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, and members of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Velvet Underground and Grateful Dead, by Recordmecca’s Jeff Gold; published by Jack White’s Third Man Books.  In it, Gold discusses the mojo of collecting artist-owned records, including others from Sterling Morrison’s collection.
