The Beatles – 1964 Carnegie Hall Concert Program / Their Second US Show and 1st US Concert Program
A very rare original souvenir program for The Beatles’ historic February 12, 1964 performance at Carnegie Hall in New York. The two shows that night were the Beatles’ second and third U.S. concerts, just one day after they’d played Washington DC. There was no program for that show, making this the group’s first American concert program.
The 24-page program is a mix of opera and classical music features, interspersed with advertisements and upcoming concert listings. Pages 10 & 11 are a spread devoted to the Beatles show, headlined ‘BEATLEMANIA IS HERE!’. Notably, Paul McCartney is listed as ‘John McCartney’.
Opening the show was little known Miami folk group, The Briarwood Singers, followed by ‘New York disc jockey’s salute to the Beatles’, and then, The Beatles.
Among the advertisements is a full page from Columbia Records, promoting Pete Seeger, the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, and Bob Dylan and his second album, Freewheelin’. Other advertisers include RCA stereo consoles, Wharfdale speakers, Cadillac, and a service offering rented Rolls Royces with a chauffer for $10/hour..
In Excellent condition, with minor handling, and a few invisibly repaired small edge tears to pages unrelated to The Beatles.
