The Beatles, Rolling Stones – Limited Edition “Blinds & Shutters” Genesis Book, Signed by Peter Blake, Bill Wyman, Julie Driscoll and famed British artists Peter Blake, Bridget Riley, Etc.

A beautiful copy of Blinds & Shutters, the limited edition deluxe book of Michael Cooper’s photographs published by Genesis; this copy signed by John Mayall, Bill Wyman, Sgt. Peppers cover artists Peter Blake and Jann Haworth, legendary English Bridget Riley, and 5 others.

This 1990 book chronicles the work of Michael Cooper (1941-1973), the legendary photographer who brilliantly documented the 60’s British music scene. Cooper is best known for shooting the album covers for The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and the Rolling Stones’ Their Satanic Majesties Request.  This large (10.5″ x 15.5″ x 2.25″; 368 pages) book chronicles 1960s London as no other has, with many intimate photographs of Cooper’s close friends The Beatles and the Stones, as well as Bob Dylan, Andy Warhol and other leading lights of the music and art scenes.  There are numerous images from the Sgt. Pepper’s session, and a large number of photos of various Beatles and Stones members.  Mick Jagger and Keith Richards have both written introductions for the book.

Published in a limited edition of 5000 numbered copies, this is #4761.  Each book was signed by 10 of the book’s contributors; this example includes the signatures of musicians John Mayall, Bill Wyman, and Julie Driscoll; British Pop artists and Sgt.Pepper’s cover designers Peter Blake and Jann Haworth,  English Op Art legend Bridget Riley, Model Jenny Boyd, a muse to Donovan and Mick Jagger, Beatles associate Terry Doran, artist Patrick Caulfield, and Michael Cooper’s son, Adam Cooper.

The book is hand bound in leather, with a deluxe hardbound box. The “window” in the hard shell box opens to reveal an original Michael Cooper photographic print of surrealist artist Rene Magritte with London gallerist Robert Fraser.   In mint condition, with the hard shell box is in near mint condition, with minor scuffs to the edge and bottom.

An extraordinary book which needs to be seen to be believed.
