The Police – Original Photograph From ‘Synchronicity’ Photo Session, by Duane Michals
An original photograph of The Police by famed photographer Duane Michals, shot during the album cover photo sessions for Synchronicity. This is a vintage print made at the time, and marked on the back ”Not OK.”
We acquired this from legendary record executive Jeff Ayeroff, who at the time of Synchronicity’s release was the Vice President of Creative Services for the Police’s label, A&M Records. Ayeroff writes in the accompanying letter of authenticity:
This letter is to authenticate an original photograph of The Police by Duane Michaels, shot during the photo sessions for the album cover of their 1983 album Synchronicity. This outtake photograph was not used on the album cover or for publicity. I was the art director for the album and hired Duane Michaels to photograph the band.
Duane Michals is an acclaimed fine art photographer who has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, Carnegie Museum of Art and the International Center for Photography, and has been honored by the National Arts Club and Royal Photography Society.
