Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – 1977 Fully Signed “Official Live Leg” Promotional LP, with Epperson, Spence COAs
A rare first pressing of the Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers 1977 promotional-only album Official Live ‘Leg, signed at the time of the album’s manufacture by the full band: Tom Petty, Mike Campbell, Ron Blair, Stan Lynch and Benmont Tench.
Official Live ‘Leg was recorded at Paul’s Mall in Boston in mid December 1976 at one of the band’s earliest gigs, opening for Al Kooper. It was pressed onto a single-sided LP and sent to radio stations, the press, and retailers to demonstrate the band’s awesome live power. Very quickly convincing bootlegs were made of this rare album, and the legend of Official Live ‘Leg began to spread.
This original Shelter Records pressing is beautifully signed in ballpoint pen on the back cover. The cover is in excellent condition; there is some creasing to three of the four corners, but the distraction is minor. These were numbered by the record company, this has the number 126 written neatly in the top right corner of the back cover. The disc is in Excellent + condition, with some superficial pressing marks and a faint bit of storage warping; it plays perfectly.
With a full letter of authenticity from foremost music autograph authenticator Roger Epperson, another from James Spence (JSA), and Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity. A great Petty collection from the beginning of his legendary band’s career.
