Velvet Underground – Rare Woodrose Ballroom Handbill / from Sterling Morrison Collection

A very rare handbill for two shows by the Velvet Underground in August, 1969, at The Woodrose Ballroom in South Deerfield, Massachusetts. This comes from the legendary archive of the late Velvets’ guitarist Sterling Morrison (1942-1995).

The design of the the handbill looks to be a gravestone surrounded by what looks to be a mideval engraving. On the back, Morrison has stamped his ‘Sterling Morrison Archive’ and filled in his inventory number, H-17.  Also included is the corresponding index card from Morrison’s card file, with his handwritten details about the handbill.

With a letter of authenticity from Sterling Morrison’s widow, Martha Morrison, noting it was part of Sterling Morrison’s collection, and Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity.

8 1/2″ x 11″, in excellent condition, with some light toning to the right hand side, barely noticeable (much less so that in the photographs here.)

A particularly rare Velvet Underground handbill, with exceptional provenance.
